The Total Quality Management Model is concerned with the way in which a business conducts itself. This is an applaudable standard for businesses to achieve and is recognizable on the International stage as many TQM standards are linked to the Internal Standards Organisation ISO standards.

However businesses and organisations need to pay attention to the quality of the product being purchased by them. Clearly having TQM systems will impact on the operations and functions of a business but it doesn't address the competence of the employee. As the employee is at the front business line and often in direct contact with the client; it is vital to quality assure their competence through assessment standards and periodic requalification.

When building your brand TQM is the model of choice; and when building your service based product, the competence of your employee is paramount.
